Neil and his trusty side kick, little Jack Russell, Zena live their life on the road. We caught up with Neil out at the Big Red Bash in Birdsville this year. Until we saw him in Birdsville, we had only dealt with Neil over the phone, with the conversion being arranged through his local Mazda dealer in far North Queensland.
Neil spends a great deal of time in outback Australia, touring the country and he needed extra carrying capacity to ensure that he remained legally compliant. He got in touch with our team and we arranged for a Six Wheel conversion on his Mazda BT50.
We also built a custom steel floor Eye~Tie tray with a folding 3" gooseneck ball built into the floor. This gives him some functionality to switch between towing his gooseneck caravan, and or flipping the ball into the floor of the tray and putting on a camper for those shorter side trips.
His GVM went up to 4,495Kg, and towing capacity went up to 4,500Kg, but with maximum towing at full GVM still sitting at over 3,800Kg, and payload at a hefty 1,800Kg, he has more than enough capacity to travel legally with all those little extras (like larger tray top fuel and water tanks for those remote trips).
The vehicle arrived on a truck, we completed the conversion and the installation of the tray, and then put it back on a truck to the dealer for delivery to Neil.
